If you’re a cheese lover, there’s little more delicious than getting stuck into the oozy deliciousness of a beautiful baked Camembert. The whole process takes no more than 20 minutes from picking the thyme to dunking the crispy bread in the cheesy yumminess.
Simple, yes; but oh so divine!
Garlic & Herb Baked Camembert
Ready in 20 minutes. Serves 4-6 as a canape.
- 1 whole Camembert, boxed
- ½ teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped, plus extra to decorate
- 1 clove garlic, very finely sliced
- Pinch (¼ teaspoon) chilli flakes
- 1 teaspoon liquid honey
- 1 small stick French baguette, sliced
- Olive oil
- Sea salt
Preheat oven to 200°.
Using the tip of a sharp knife, make a few small cross shapes in the top of the Camembert. Put a slice of garlic, a couple of chilli flakes and some thyme in each cross, pushing about halfway into the cheese. Once you’ve filled the holes in the cheese, drizzle honey over the top of the cheese rind and sprinkle the remaining chopped thyme and chilli on top.
Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, until the centre is soft to the touch.
Meanwhile, place your bread sliced on a tray and drizzle with oil. Sprinkle with salt, and put on the lower shelf in the oven with the cheese, for the last 5 minutes of cooking.
