Sweet As! Krispy Kreme doughnuts opens first NZ store
First flagship store opens in Manukau
Kiwis will soon be able to enjoy glaze for days, as the world-famous doughnut and coffee chain, Krispy Kreme, announces it is officially launching in New Zealand, with its first flagship store opening on Wednesday, 28th February 2018, at 3 Ronwood Avenue in Manukau, Auckland.
The store launch, which kicks off from 8.00am, is expected to draw in the crowds – with some Krispy Kreme fans expected to take things to a hole new level, camping outside to ensure they are first in line to try the Original Glazed doughnut, hot off the line. What’s more, the first Krispy Kreme fan through the door on the 28th will be rewarded with a year’s supply of doughnuts.
Andrew McGuigan, CEO of Krispy Kreme, Australia and New Zealand, says: “Krispy Kreme is a brand famous for having fun and sharing great experiences and we can’t wait to do just that in New Zealand!
“Over the years, we’ve been overwhelmed by the demand from Kiwis for Krispy Kreme to hit these shores and we are now extremely excited to be finally launching in New Zealand, making it the 35th country in the world to enjoy our much-loved sweet treats.
“Once our renowned Krispy Kreme ‘Hot Now’ sign is switched on, our Auckland store will be open for business and customers can expect to enjoy the authentic Krispy Kreme experience – warm, melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts, barista-crafted coffee and much more.”
McGuigan continues: “For over 80 years, people have been enjoying our Original Glazed doughnuts hot off the line. Our doughnuts are also made daily, so fresh means made today; nothing less.”
McGuigan concludes: “Our new Auckland store will offer Aucklanders a retail shop and drive-thru and we expect as many as 180 new jobs to be created as a result of this new opening.”
Aucklanders will be able to enjoy doughnuts hot off the line at Krispy Kreme’s state of the art new facility, which features two production lines, which when running at full capacity, can create 4,320 of the sweet treats every hour. In a year the machine can produce enough doughnuts to stretch from Auckland to Sydney and beyond. If stacked on top of each other, the number of doughnuts produced in a day would make 18 Sky Towers.
In the lead-up to opening, from Sunday 28th January, Krispy Kreme will be out and about in Auckland sampling their world-famous Original Glazed doughnuts. Keep an eye on Facebook for details of sampling locations over the coming weeks.
The Krispy Kreme store launch will take place at 3 Ronwood Avenue in Manukau, Auckland, from 8.00am, on Wednesday 28th February. Every guest will be treated to a free Krispy Kreme doughnut on arrival, along with the chance to participate in in-store activities, giveaways and a live DJ until late. Krispy Kreme fans eager to get their first taste of the sweet treats will be invited to join the queue from Monday 26th February. Mark the date in your diary – dough-not delay!
