What’s in your chicken tonight?

Followers on Eatscooksreads social media will know that I am a strong supporter of free range poultry – the best moment of my week so far was discovering that the proposed factory farming of 9 million chickens in Northland had been rejected. There is absolutely no need for any poultry to be factory farmed. Ever.

So as you can imagine, I am so pleased to discover that a new free range chicken brand has launched that gives New Zealanders the choice to buy free range chicken that is guaranteed 100% antibiotic free.

George & Jo’s is the latest offering from family-owned New Zealand chicken producer, Van Den Brink Poultry. They have undertaken extensive trials over the last year to achieve an antibiotic free flock.

In New Zealand, one registered antibiotic is routinely added to feed for the health and welfare of birds, under veterinary supervision. This antibiotic is not registered in New Zealand for use by humans.

However, George & Jo’s ‘100% antibiotic free chicken’ means consumers can be 100% confident the entire food chain and processes used in growing and producing George & Jo’s range of products is free of antibiotics.

George & Jo’s represents our New Zealand Farming families who care about the environment, the chickens, sustainability and good nutrition.

George & Jo’s new range includes fresh free range whole chickens, breast fillets, thigh fillets, schnitzels, nibbles, drumsticks, kebabs, ready-to-eat products, and livers.

George & Jo’s free range chicken is on sale across New Zealand from September 27 and can be found in the butchery section of selected supermarkets, independent butchers, wholesalers and hospitality outlets.
